Solar Photovoltaic:
With the introduction of Feed In Tariffs (FITs) in April 2010 the benefits of installing an electricity generating system have improved significantly. Up until the introduction of FITs the 'payback' period of an investment in Solar PV was around 20 years - now it is around 10-12 years. With a well designed system the return on investment is around 8% - 10% a year - a lot greater than many other investments.
In a similar manner to Solar Thermal, PV systems also work on cloudy days and, significantly, it does not have to be very hot. In fact the hotter the weather the less the output! PV systems are also more or less maintenance free. The technology is such that installations are pretty much straightforward. The important factors to take into consideration are an appropriate location and little or no shading. PV systems do not need to go on a roof - they can be ground mounted if roof space if limited, is shaded or is not facing south east to south west.
One of the main factors in maximising the potential from a PV system is to consider how you use electricity within your home. The secret to success is to use it when you are generating it as much as possible therefore using as little grid generated electricity as you can. Our advisor will explain this further to you.
After extensive research we have identified the manufacturers we wish to partner. We based our decision on quality and independently tested performance. We feel confident that their products will provide maximum benefit to you.
